Cavetown’s “Baby Spoon” celebrates queer love and emotional honesty

Cavetown, the U.K. singer-songwriter and producer known for his queer indie-pop anthems, just released a new single called “Baby Spoon” alongside a music video, offering the first glimpse into a whole new chapter. This release is also joined by the news of his signing with Futures Music Group (Mt. Joy, Phantogram, Barns Courtney, et. al), a joint venture between Neon Gold and Avenue A Records .

The track is a beautiful love song about vulnerability and communication, inspired by his own relationship with his partner. He shared, “‘Baby Spoon is a reminder to my partner that I’ll always be there to talk to her and make her feel better. Growing up as a transmasc guy, I went through a phase of overdoing masculinity because I thought that’s what was expected of me. With her, I can be delicate, soft, I can be the baby spoon”.

The video adds an artistic and dreamy layer to the already dreamlike song, with soft visuals and lighting. It features Cavetown himself singing, alongside scenes of a queer couple sharing small, everyday expressions of love and care. It’s a gentle and heartfelt portrayal of intimacy, celebrating the quiet, comforting moments that define real connection and reinforcing Cavetown’s gift for turning personal experiences into universally resonant art. The signing comes after an exceptional eighteen months for Cavetown, with six singles earning RIAA Platinum certification, and major festival performances including Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and more, as well as tours with AJR, Pierce the Veil, Mother Mother, and many more.

Cavetown is no newcomer to the music industry, having started releasing his first personal songs as a teenager in Cambridge, England. Cavetown has cultivated a deeply loyal global fanbase over the years, amassing billions of streams across a diverse catalog that ranges from lo-fi bedroom recordings to richly self-produced indie-pop gems. His music has become a source of comfort and connection for many, “soft hands offering understanding when the world felt too sharp.”

Cavetown also remains committed to supporting causes he deeply cares about, such as his “This Is Home” initiative, which has raised over $650,000 for LGBTQ+ organizations.
