Twenty One Pilots leaves Charlotte begging for more!

On October 8, Twenty One Pilots arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina for a stop on their North American fall tour, “The Clancy Tour: Breach.” After a successful run of their first leg of the “Clancy World Tour,” which began in August 2024 and continued on into earlier this year, the Ohio natives are finally back to play in North Carolina. I was so happy to catch one of their shows before they go on a break from touring!

While some fans were fighting through the venue traffic, Dayglow started off the night! Unfortunately, he only had a 30 minute set for us but he was a wonderful opener for Twenty One Pilots! He played songs like “Can I Call You Tonight?,” “Hot Rod,” and “Listerine” off his 2019 album Fuzzybrain. As well as songs like “Close To You,” off his 2021 album Harmony House, and “Richocet” off his most recent album Dayglow (Superbloom), which is a deluxe version of his 2024 self titled album, Dayglow. I had the pleasure of seeing Dayglow, aka Sloan Struble, live on his own North American tour last September, so it was a treat to see him again! I can’t wait for him to come back to Charlotte again soon!

Twenty One Pilots arrived on stage with flair! The show started with a Josh Dun drum solo and Tyler Joseph launching himself off his piano, after that I knew we were in for a good night.

They opened their set with “Overcompensate” before flowing into “The Contract” and “RAWFEAR.” This is the first Twenty One Pilots show that I have been able to attend but I have seen videos of their shows all over my Instagram, so I was aware of what great performers they were. Their shows are something that you have to see in your lifetime!

Their fans were singing every word back to them, there was rarely a break in noise from the crowd. They played some of their earlier hits like “Tear In My Heart” and “Heathens,” as well as more songs off their 2024 album Clancy, like “Backslide” and “Next Semester,” as well “Shy Away,” off their 2021 album Scaled and Icy. They then moved to their B stage, located out in the lawn section of the venue, to continue on playing songs like “Message Man,” “Polarize,” “Chlorine,” “Pet Cheetah,” and “Routines In The Night,” which they performed off a burning car!

They made their way back to the main stage to continue on with some songs like “Jumpsuit,” “Nico and The Niners,” “Heavydirtsoul,” and “Tally.” When I didn’t think I could love Twenty One Pilots more, they played their song “The Line,” which was created for the second season of the Netflix show “Arcane” – which is one of my favorite shows – that dropped last November! Something special that they have been doing on this tour has been calling up a young fan to sing a song with them and the star of the night was Emma, who helped them perform the last chorus of “Ride!”

I have always wanted to attend one of their shows, because they are always doing something crazy, from crowd surfing on air mattresses to drum solos in the middle of the pit to performing next to a flaming car to running around in a giant inflatable hamster ball! I love how interactive they are with the fans and how they utilize the entire space of the venue. It gives every fan an opportunity to get something special and a view that many couldn’t afford. There is no bad seat or section at a Twenty One Pilots show!

They have some of the best fans around, they show up decked out in TØP regalia, dressed fully like Tyler and Josh characters from their music videos. They also have one of the most dedicated and passionate fanbases as well, and Tyler and Josh give that love back to them tenfold each show! Unfortunately, the night had to end as they finished off their set with a four song encore of “City Walls,” “Guns For Hands,” “Stressed Out,” and “Trees,” where they came back out into the pit to play the drums! Their album Blurryface is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year as well. This was truly a night I will never forget and I wish I was able to do it all over again tomorrow!

“The Clancy Tour: Breach” is continuing on with dates in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, and California until late October, so be sure to get tickets. Their eighth studio album, Breach, just released a couple of weeks ago in September, so be sure to check that out as well. While they have announced a break from touring after these shows, Twenty One Pilots is far from done creating music to share with the world!
