Bearings is back and they’re hitting the ground running. Their new album, Comfort Company, is coming out on November 7, but you can listen to the first single that’ll be on it called “Quick Release” NOW! Seems like a long wait, but at the same time, you’ll be able to catch them hitting the road with As It Is on the very same day! WOW, double whammy!
Anyways, this new single — everything you’d expect from a Bearings track. Bearings has always dropped super pumped up and catchy tracks that you’ll get stuck in your head to where you’ll be humming it repeatedly without even realizing it. Yes, I have done this. I will probably be that way with this song. Frontman Doug Cousins states that this track is an embodiment of the band as a whole and the time they have been together. From all the years of hard work, touring, acceptance of doing this because it’s what they love — all the good and bad times mixed together. Isn’t that what a musical journey is? From the ups to the downs and remembering it’s done because of the thrill in it. I mean, that’s why I persistently pursue concert photography. I’m chasing a high because it’s mine and I love it.
This song is extra stuck in my head, and something about the lyrics, “Whatev?r you need, I’m right here waiting don’t worry bout me no, Cutting my teeth, I know I ain’t special and I never claimed to be so,” hits — especially the shift in beat from the verse before. The verse before is almost robotic, chanting-like, and it grabs your attention before sliding into these lines so smooth-like.
This new album is going to have nine tracks. It’s available to pre-save now, so what are you waiting for? But also, let’s listen to this track on repeat together. I will be.
They’ll be hitting the road for a mini tour this fall, check out the dates!
