It was a weekend of metal for me, all stacked high with bangers. This night was no different at the X-Ray. A smaller and more tame crowd than I’m used to for heavier shows in this place, but the energy was there. Three openers and a co-headlining tour that made a stop in Milwaukee – well, Cudahy. Gorgatron and Casket Robbery were here to take it all.
The first band to take stage was local band Reflection of Flesh, a three-piece band. The singer’s mic was super cool, not a very common thing to see on stages. Each band member’s face was covered in black paint, and they were dressed to fit the part. It was clear that people had seen them before, as many were sporting their merch.
After their set, Yotuma took the stage. They got things moving a bit more in the room. There weren’t that many bodies in attendance, but the pit size definitely made up for it. The few brave souls who took the moshing role made sure it covered the whole room.
The last opener to rock the stage was Frontal Assault. Each and every opener made their presence known and acknowledged the whole lineup as well – we love to see all the support within the metal community.
Gorgatron and Casket Robbery, the pair of bands that led this charge, were both amazing. The vocalist, Karl Schmidt of Gorgatron, whipped his hair around the stage with his bandmates in tow, all in sync to the beat.
Vocalist Megan Orvold, closed out the night with her presence. She sported colorful hair that she whipped back and forth, an image to behold. They even played some unreleased music that they mentioned will be a part of their new album. After this tour, they plan to record a new album immediately, so we can expect that early next year. Be on the lookout – I know I will be!
