Tunnel Vision in full color: Beach Bunny shines in Austin

Beach Bunny lit up the stage at Emo’s in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, June 5, with a magnetic blend of indie-pop flair and playful rebellion that electrified every inch of the venue. Upon approaching the venue, a long line of eager fans stretched down the block, all waiting for doors to open to the sold-out show. Inside, people of all ages, mostly sporting Beach Bunny merchandise and playful bunny ears, packed the room wall-to-wall, their voices echoing back the lyrics so loud during “Cloud 9” it was hard to tell who was louder: the band or the crowd. A beach ball bounced overhead as the band dove into their set, framed by whimsical stage props and drenched in candy-colored lights. Lead singer Lili Trifilio, armed with her signature pink sparkly guitar and punky leg kicks, had the crowd in the palm of her hand.

During the encore, she returned alone, cloaked in a Texas flag cowboy hat, strumming her electric guitar beneath a sea of swaying cell phone lights – an intimate moment that felt like it belonged to each person there. And just when it seemed like the energy couldn’t go higher, she split the crowd in two for the final song, inviting both sides to rush toward each other in a euphoric explosion of movement, sound, and pure joy. It was chaos, it was release, it was Beach Bunny at their boldest.

Opening the night was Scarlet Demore, whose high-energy set set the tone perfectly. The band stormed the stage in full rockstar fashion: leather outfits, high boots, and enough attitude to match their thrashing riffs. Their nonstop jumping and wild energy had the crowd dancing from the first note, creating an atmosphere that was fun, loose, and impossible not to move to. Scarlet Demore didn’t just warm up the crowd, they lit the fuse.

Whether you were a longtime fan or hearing these songs live for the first time, the night offered a shared sense of release that only a packed-out venue and the right soundtrack can deliver. Between Scarlet Demore’s electrifying opener and Beach Bunny’s unforgettable performance, it was the kind of show that leaves your ears ringing, your voice hoarse, and your heart full.
