Lainey Wilson “Somewhere Over Laredo”

IS MOST ADDED AT COUNTRY RADIO THIS PAST WEEK.

WITH OVER 1.16 MILLION STREAMS ACROSS PLATFORMS IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS—IT’S HER BIGGEST DAY ONE OF STREAMS YET.

SHE WILL ALSO BE PUTTING OUT A NEW DELUXE VERSION OF WHIRLWIND ON AUGUST 22 WITH FIVE ADDITIONAL TRACKS.

HERE’S “SOMEWHERE OVER LAREDO” AT 2025 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

The song appears on the deluxe edition of Wilson’s acclaimed album Whirlwind, set for release on August 22 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville to mark the album’s one-year anniversary. Fans can pre-order, pre-save, or pre-add it now. In addition to the original 14 tracks, the expanded version will include five new songs: “Somewhere Over Laredo,” “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” and “Peace, Love, and Cowboys.”

Wilson debuted “Somewhere Over Laredo” live for the first time at the 2025 American Music Awards earlier this week, followed by an appearance on CBS Mornings to talk about the new track. Billboard praised the performance as “one of her most commanding, dynamic vocal performances to date, crescendo-ing from a soft-focus, tender vocal, before gradually reaching into her upper register for powerful moments that heighten the song’s emotional acuity.”

Written by Wilson, Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson and Andy Albert, the track honors “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” …highlighting Wilson’s signature storytelling and genuine country style as she looks back on a past love and honors small-town life across America.

This release caps off another huge year for Wilson, who recently scored four wins at the 60th Annual ACM Awards, including Entertainer of the Year (for the second time in a row), Female Artist of the Year (third straight win), Album of the Year for Whirlwind, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. She also hit the stage with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert to debut a new track called “Trailblazer,” which she co-wrote with Lambert and Brandy Clark.

Additionally, Wilson is in the midst of her nearly sold-out “Whirlwind World Tour,” which includes stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Austin’s Moody Center and Denver’s Ball Arena among many others. The upcoming dates follow the tour’s first leg—a completely sold-out extensive run across the U.K and Europe earlier this year.
