Advanced listen: “Into the Winds” — The stirring debut single from Ali J. Hassan.
Get ready for a powerful new voice in indie rock. Acclaimed musician, singer-songwriter, and seasoned engineer Ali J. Hassan steps into the spotlight with his debut single, “Into the Winds.” Blending the raw emotion of roots rock with the expansive soundscapes of indie rock, this track is both a personal affirmation and a universal message of hope.
At its heart, “Into the Winds” is a song about surrendering to the flow of life, especially when it feels uncertain. Hassan explains, “The line, ‘You’re where you’re supposed to be,’ is an affirmation that, for good or bad, you’re on the right path. It’s hard to see the bigger picture when life is throwing hard times, but those hard times can be lessons and opportunities if you let them.” With lyrics that feel like a lifeline and instrumentation that builds with quiet strength, the song offers listeners a sense of grounding clarity in the chaos.
While this is Hassan’s first release as a solo artist, his musical résumé is anything but beginner. He’s lent his talent behind the scenes to some of the biggest names in the industry, including Alicia Keys, John Legend, Sting, Elton John, and rising star Benson Boone. With “Into the Winds,” Hassan proves he’s not only an expert at shaping sound—but also at telling stories that linger long after the last note fades.
