MARKS FIRST RELEASE OF 2025 – LISTEN – DIY OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO OUT NOW – WATCH
Austin-based alt rock musician Bee Blackwell is back with her new single “LALALA,” her first release of the year and the lead-up to her upcoming EP Nine Lives, out June 20, 2025. She wrote and produced the EP herself, then recorded it over three days Sonic Ranch while on a break. Nine Lives is all about making it through chaos and coming out better on the other side. “LALALA” is a bright, daydreamy track with catchy guitar riffs, soft harmonies, and a swirl of percussion that builds into a chant you won’t forget. Love it!
“‘LALALA’ is a conversation between two people who haven’t spoken to each other in probably years, with all the weird boundaries and walls that have built up over the time lost,” Bee Blackwell says. “There’s a sense of familiarity, but you still don’t know if you can fully trust them, so you just make things up to fill silence or to seem interesting.”

PRE-SAVE NINE LIVES
Bee’s been keeping busy—she made her SXSW debut in Austin back in March and played a bunch of fun, high-energy shows around Texas. When she finally had some free time, she ended up diving into what became Nine Lives. It’s a super personal project, kind of like a diary, where she opens up about everything from tough moments to big dreams. The songs are built around dreamy guitar hooks, easygoing percussion, and a little splash of 2000s emo. It’s Bee at her most honest and adventurous—pushing her sound while staying true to who she is.
Back in 2023, Bee started sharing covers of her favorite emo and grunge songs online, and pretty quickly built a fanbase that connected with her raw, emotional style. Those covers eventually led to her first EP, Calico, which dropped later that year and included the fan favorite “Blue.” As 2024 rolled in, Bee kept the momentum going with three new singles—“Dumb,” “The Same,” and “Signs”—and now she’s getting ready to release her second EP, which also happens to be her first fully self-produced project.
