Pittsburgh-based pop punk band Old Neon returns today with a moving new single, “Better Son,” the second track from their upcoming EP Resolution, set for release on May 23, 2025. Produced and engineered by Matt Brasch and mixed by Nick Steinborn (both from The Wonder Years) with mastering by renowned producer Will Yip (Scowl, The Menzingers, Movements), Resolution marks the band’s most compelling and polished work to date.

“’Better Son‘ is a song about my uncle dying, the sort of aftermath on the family, and wrestling with the fact that fate kind of took the wrong person,” shares bassist Sean Michael.

The single follows in the emotionally resonant footsteps of previous Old Neon material, blending earnest lyrics, soaring melodies, and a post-pandemic urgency that characterizes the band’s growing catalog. Resolution is a testament to their evolution, capturing vulnerability and grit in equal measure.

ABOUT OLD NEON:
Formed in Pittsburgh during a time of collective uncertainty, Old Neon came together just as live music was making its return. The five-piece—Drew Sipos (vocals), Bea Langer (guitar), Sean Michael (bass), Mike McInnes (guitar), and Zach Pollack (drums)—has since refined a sound rooted in pop punk but pushing beyond genre lines. From creative clashes to near breakups, the band has emerged stronger and more intentional, poised to share their most personal and hard-fought work.

“Not only did the band make things work, they succeeded in stepping up their craft,” says Brasch. “They dug deep for beautiful and explosive performances.”
