Motörhead unearths lost 1976 session with The Manticore Tapes

For the first time ever, fans will hear the spark that ignited Motörhead‘s legendary career: The Manticore Tapes, a long-lost recording from 1976, is finally seeing daylight on June 27! Captured at the now-legendary Manticore Studio in Fulham, these eleven unreleased tracks feature the first-ever studio session of Motörhead’s iconic “Three Amigos” lineup—Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor.

These tapes, recorded in a converted cinema once run by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, were nearly lost to time. It’s a time capsule from an era when the band’s future wasn’t guaranteed. Lemmy was still a pub-circuit renegade, not yet a rock deity. But the attitude was locked in: full volume, no apologies. The lost tracks were restored by longtime Motörhead producer Cameron Webb and mastered by Andrew Alekel.
