After wrapping a fully sold-out European run and playing a milestone set at Coachella, The Dare sold out seven back-to-back nights at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right in just six hours yesterday—the longest run the venue’s ever hosted.
The residency runs May 12 to 18 at the same spot where he played his first live show, making this a truly special moment for him. The shows will land just a few weeks before the release of the deluxe version of his debut album, What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, releasing June 13 via Republic Records and featuring three new tracks: the recently released “LCA”, “Cheeky, and a cover of The Sound’s “I Can’t Escape Myself.”
The Dare is the solo project of Harrison Patrick Smith: vocalist, songwriter, and producer. He gained attention with his global hit “Girls.” His critically acclaimed The Sex EP quickly earned praise from both critics and fellow artists. Over the years, he’s shared the stage and collaborated with icons like Charli XCX, Yves Tumor, and Water From Your Eyes, among others. His legendary DJ sets have become the soundtrack to high-profile parties for brands like Gucci, Celine, Yves Saint Laurent, and many more.
A new collaboration with PinkPantheress is on the way too, landing May 9 as part of her upcoming mixtape, Fancy That.
The Brooklyn shows follow what’s already shaping up to be a massive year for The Dare, whose chaotic Coachella set was dubbed a “desert rager” by Rolling Stone, where “the dance music star kicked up the energy dressed up in a suit and tie and black sunglasses as stacks of Marshall amps and spotlights blasted behind him.” You can watch it here.
He’s coming off a completely sold-out U.K. and European tour, an appearance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards alongside Charli XCX, and a front-row run through Paris Fashion Week.
Next up: a string of global festival sets this spring and summer, including Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, Reading, Leeds, and more, plus a handful of California dates supporting Justice.
The Dare’s been throwing his signature party Freakquencies worldwide, most recently in Mexico City, after throwing a 4,000-person blowout in NYC. The nights, which started in a sweaty Manhattan basement, has since hosted guest sets from Doss, Danny L Harle, Dylan Brady, Kelly Lee Owens, and a rotating cast of friends and collaborators.
His long-awaited debut album, What’s Wrong With New York?, dropped in September 2024 and hit like a lightning bolt. The LP features the now-ubiquitous “Girls” — sitting at 52 million Spotify streams and counting — plus fan favorites like “Perfume” and “Good Time”.
The praise for What’s Wrong With New York? has been pouring in since its release, here’s a few:
“The Dare’s album is a party – and you’re invited”— NPR All Things Considered
“a sincerely fun, joyous, laugh-out-loud, self-aware testament to the power of cheek…a love letter to being young and hedonistic in New York…The album is a tight 10-song flex of Smith’s formidable production skills”—The New York Times
“horny, sleazy and dripping with 2000s nostalgia…The Pacific Northwest kid quickly became a symbol for Downtown NYC cool, emerging as both a music and fashion darling…his mix of synth-pop and punk an eclectic shock to ‘supercharge’ our city’s underground scene.”—PAPER
