Aiming to forge a new path for country music, Cory endeavors to take it down a different lane infused with rock and roll energy. With a background as a drummer before launching his singing career, he holds a profound appreciation for melody and rhythm, emphasizing that music is about more than just lyrics — it’s about the feel.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, he counts Rush among his biggest influences. Cory was fortunate to grow up in a musical household where his father favored rock and his mother embraced country music. This dual influence paved the way for his eclectic sound. Travis Tritt, who he has collaborated with on two songs, adds another layer to his musical journey. Throw in inspirations from Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera, and Lamb of God, and you start to understand why Cory Marks has something for everyone!

In his music, the country elements provide heartfelt storytelling, while the rock and metal influences inject energy. As he transitioned into the role of singer-songwriter, Cory has consistently strived to blend genres to create a distinctive sound that resonates with fans of both country and rock. “With Cory Marks, you get a little bit of everything,” he says.

Looking ahead, he dreams of collaborating with Bryan Adams, hoping to craft a memorable story and sound together, both as proud Canadians. Authenticity is paramount for Cory; everything he writes stems from his own experiences and emotions. He believes it’s crucial for artists to be real and relatable, showcasing their vulnerabilities. “Life is a rollercoaster,” he explains. His albums reflect this dynamic journey—starting with a bang, featuring sing-alongs, dipping down, and then rising back up to capture the variety of emotions life presents.

Loyalty to his band is another core value for Cory. He’s not playing games; he’s committed to the long haul and wants his band to ride with him on this journey. His song “Outlaws and Outsiders” has been a career highlight so far, featuring legendary producers and artists like Ivan Moody and Travis Tritt, which truly brought everything together. The song has achieved gold status in Canada and the USA, and platinum in Canada — a testament to his dreams coming to fruition.

Cory’s list of influences spans greats like Merle Haggard, Eric Church, Bryan Adams, and Ozzy Osbourne, and he firmly believes that anything is possible. “The biggest thing is patience,” he says, reflecting on his musical journey and aspirations. He wants everyone to know his passion for country, rock, and metal shines through in every note.
