This Thursday, November 13, the Salle Pleyel welcomed a legendary band: The Fray. They came to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album How to Save a Life, a record that deeply marked an entire generation.
The singer, Joe King, looked genuinely happy to be there, visibly moved by the audience’s energy, and the whole room felt perfectly in sync with him.
The concert opened with “She Is,” followed by the delightful “All at Once.” From the very first notes, a gentle atmosphere settled in, as if time itself slowed down. You could feel the crowd leaning in, attentive, carried by that emotional swell so characteristic of The Fray.
They played all the classics from that album: “Look After You,” “Fall Away,” songs that created suspended, nostalgic moments. Each track awakened a memory, a feeling, as if the audience had been transported ten years back in an instant.
The stage design, both elegant and delicate, echoed the symbols of the album: a small lamp, just like on the cover, and flowers placed at the feet of each musician.
At one point, King even made his way through the entire crowd, creating a suspended, almost surreal moment.
And of course, everyone was patiently waiting for “How to Save a Life.” When the first notes rang out, the whole room stood up as one. King looked truly moved as the audience sang the lyrics at the top of their lungs—a song that has touched so many lives.
It was a rare moment of communion, almost sacred.
They also performed songs from their 2009 album The Fray, which clearly shows how complete their discography is and how much impact this band still has today. The venue was packed, every seat vibrating with the audience’s energy. Between the flower toss and their final thanks, the band left the stage visibly moved. What a privilege to have been able to hear this album in its entirety!
