A midweek, late-Wednesday-night show — 9pm doors! — didn’t stop the crowd from showing up to the iconic Mercury Lounge for Greyhaven’s “Keep It Quiet” tour with Commoner and Fox Lake. The line wrapped around the corner in the brisk night, and inside was no different, as the venue filled up quickly even before the first band took to the stage.
Coming fresh off of their own headlining tour for New World Heat, Fox Lake needed no time to win the crowd over as they launched into an intense, half-hour set packed with nonstop energy. It was ferocious and bold — a blend of metalcore, hardcore, hip-hop, and nu-metal that hits even harder live. Not only does the band sound good, they bring a sense of authenticity with them. Calling back to the line, “buckle up, put your money where your mouth is” from “For the Love of the Game,” Nathan yells “FUCK ICE” in the middle of their set to loud cheers from the crowd. The Denver quartet delivered wall-to-wall bangers, mostly from New World Heat, but they did bring out fan favorite “Dog Eat Dog” towards the end of the set, and the response was explosive from the crowd.
Not only has Fox Lake released a very highly rated album this year, they are even more incredible live with their intense stage presence, energy and confidence. Don’t miss your chance to see them along with Commoner on Greyhaven’s “Keep It Quiet” tour now.
