Nina Chuba lights up the city

On October 29, the German popstar Nina Chuba filled up the iconic Olympia Hall in Munich, Germany.

As the crowd poured into the Olympia Park, Nina’s wide fanbase and connection to her fans became apparent. Girls in their mid-twenties and little kids alike all were inspired by the singer’s bold and colorful style, with many copying her iconic braided hairstyle.

The Austrian singer Esther Graf started the evening as Nina’s opening act. A mix of pop and indie songs got the crowd hyped for the night.

When the lights dimmed and smoke started to rise from the stage, the entire arena begin to vibrate. Emerging from the smoke, Nina kicked-off the night with her radio hit Wildberry Lillet,” making everyone in the arena jump. The energy from the first few songs carried through the entire night. Touring her latest album ich lieb mich, ich lieb mich nicht (“I love myself, I don’t love myself”), she showed that pop music with rap influence can blend seamlessly with ballads and acapella interludes. Her live band did not only include the usual drums and bassist, but three female musicians playing trumpets and saxophones as well.

After some upbeat songs, Nina took a moment to pause and speak to the crowd, becoming quite emotional. Introducing her next song, her voice trembled lightly as she spoke about how she sometimes “feels unsure, even if she’s up on that stage” and that “we all live for the first time right in this moment.” She asked the crowd to take a moment to all be vulnerable together, with many concert-goers hugging their friends and loved ones while listening to the singer’s words, which made for a moment of unity that only live music can create.

She went on to explain how her hit single 3 Uhr nachts (“3am at night”) talks about a canon event in your twenties: a friendship breakup. When Nina asked the crowd who was also in their twenties, many fans cheered as loud as they could, making for a shared moment of connection between Nina and her fans. As she sat on stage surrounded by her entire live band, the arena lit up as her fans pulled out their flashlights during the performance.

Nina: “I can see quite a lot of phones out right now – are you all with me in this moment”

As Nati, her make-up artist, came on stage to touch-up Nina’s hair and make-up, Nina lovingly called out her fans for having all of their phones out, asking for a moment of disconnect from the world in our phones.

After stripping it back to the essentials for her softer songs, a sudden alarm filled the arena. With blazing sounds, the entire stage lit up red, introducing the next song. Supported by the “rage girl” visuals on stage, Nina asked the crowd “Where are my girls who rage?” The response was explosive, literally and figuratively, as fire elements shocked the crowd as Nina and her back-up dancers broke into a dance break. The crowd gasped collectively before erupting into clapping, jumping, and cheering.

For the encore, Nina seemingly disappeared behind a curtain as her shadow performed her hit song Fata Morgana.” During her last song she spoke about wanting to spend more time with her family and to take a break to reconnect with friends and family. However, her fans are already ready to see her again, as her new tour has already been announced for summer 2026. Nina will come back to the Munich Olympia Hall for three consecutive shows July 4 – 6, 2026.
