Vevo launches new original series “Artist Portrait” featuring Conan Gray

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, has announced the launch of a brand-new original content franchise, “Artist Portrait,” a series spotlighting exclusive performances and in-depth commentary from top artists in one-of-a-kind locations. The inaugural installment features Conan Gray, with two performances set to roll out throughout October, culminating in a short film blending narrative and live performance.

Vevo and Conan Gray share a long creative history, beginning with his 2020 Vevo “DSCVR Artists to Watch” performances of “Maniac” and “Comfort Crowd,” followed by Live from Vevo Studios sessions in 2021 with performances of “Memories,” “Disaster” , and in 2024 of “Alley Rose,” “Never Ending Song”, as well as his 2025 Vevo Footnotes episode for “This Song.”

The “Artist Portrait” series captures the essence of an artist outside the studio, offering an immersive, artist-led experience filmed in locations that hold personal meaning. Each episode merges performance and storytelling, revealing the artist’s creative process in a deeply authentic light.

Conan’s first performance in the series, “Actor,” was filmed in a wood-paneled seaside attic. With guitar in hand and his band close by, Conan delivers a raw, emotional rendition reflecting on heartbreak and denial—when someone you love pretends nothing ever happened, leaving you questioning what was real.

“Vevo has a rich heritage in creating stunning, high-quality content for artists,” said JP Evangelista, SVP of Content, Programming & Marketing, Vevo. “With Artist Portrait, we’re expanding our Originals portfolio, bringing the set to the artist wherever they are. Fans will experience their favorite artists live from meaningful, real-world spaces. Having collaborated with Conan since early in his career, it’s been incredible to see his growth. In this series, fans will see him like never before—raw, authentic, and deeply personal.”

“Artist Portrait delves into the spirit—the inner creative life—of an artist in the present moment,” added Chris Pereira, Executive Producer, Vevo. “We meet artists where they are—on the road, at home, or in the studio—for stripped-back performances and quiet conversations that remove barriers between the viewer and their art. For the launch, we joined Conan at a seaside writing cabin to talk about the winding process of shaping his second album, Wishbone.”
