What do you get when you have a room full of queer, bisexual, and lesbian individuals, along with their allies? It’s called a G Flip concert. G Flip, along with opener Beth McCarthy, kicked off the weekend at Thalia Hall in Chicago on the night of Friday, October 11.
If Beth McCarthy isn’t on your radar yet, it’s time to make her a priority! Hailing from the U.K., Beth gained momentum in her career after appearing on “The Voice U.K.” Since then, she has built a strong following on social media and is emerging as a leading voice in the queer community. She recently released an EP, titled Hot and Stupid, this past April, and her latest single, “Drama At The Disco,” dropped on October 10. When Beth took the stage, her larger-than-life energy was infectious. She had an incredible stage presence and captivated the crowd. Her vibrant performance perfectly set the mood for G Flip, who took the stage afterward!
The moment G Flip took the stage, they had the crowd in a frenzy. G maintained high, vibrant energy throughout their entire set, with the audience singing every word alongside them. The crowd erupted when they spotted G’s wife, Chrishell Stause, up in the balcony with other family members at the show. I was in awe of G’s talent; their singing and musicianship were impressive as they seamlessly played the saxophone, guitar, and drums. The love and sense of community at the show were palpable, and it was all thanks to G Flip for creating a safe space for their fans. It was truly a phenomenal night of music and community with these queer icons. What a fantastic way to kick off the weekend with them.
