Midwest emo band Clementine drops new single, a prelude to their debut album

Clementine, like the fruit? No, Clementine, the Midwest emo/punk band from Rockford, Illinois. I’ve actually seen this band perform a few times, and they are a fun bunch to see live. I’m so excited to see them coming out with new music and touring more these days. I honestly always thought they were local to Milwaukee, not the Illinois suburbs. Oops!

Anyways, this new single, “Quinn Cicala,” is only the first track of many that’ll be a part of their debut album, Juvenoia. This new album is currently planned to be released in 2026; no exact date has been shared yet. Stay tuned for that.

“Quinn Cicala” is everything I’d expect from this band as a fan. However, it’s probably safe to say a decent handful of readers may not be all that familiar with this band. What I do appreciate about Clementine is they have such intricate guitar intros that just hook you at the very start. “Quinn Cicala” is no different in this case. I especially love their single, “Stone” – it’s such a good tune. Go listen to that- actually, just listen to all of their music.

Anyways, “Quinn Cicala,” has this soft quality opening that balances well within the deeper notes that match the way vocalist Joe Altamore sings each word. Especially when the beat really kicks in during the part, “I never learned to make them agree,” it’s just such a smooth transition. Then, the music pauses as Altamore sings, “that hate each other,” — the way he pushes emotion into each word of that line is magic. The way it keeps up with the tempo yet maintains this quiet emotion during the transitions back and forth just keeps me mesmerized by this song.

I’m in love with this song, so I am excited to see more music from this band. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to hear some of the new music performed live because it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to one of their shows. If I’m being honest, I think the last time I saw these guys play was last year in JJ’s basement? I could be wrong, but I think that’s right. This is a call for them to return to Milwaukee, please and thanks! I really need to scream along to “Stone” and “Lucinda” again because they’re my favorite songs by these guys.

Anyways, Midwest emo fans, if you haven’t heard of this band yet, this one is for you —  for fans of Bearings, Knuckle Puck, Microwave, and Oso Oso. Hit them up and follow their socials to stay in touch with any upcoming announcements of future tour news. Fingers crossed that Milwaukee is on that list?
