QUINN XCII lights up the Hollywood Palladium!

I had the chance to photograph Quinn XCII’s (pronounced “92”) show at the Hollywood Palladium – now my third time seeing him live, and somehow, he keeps finding new ways to top himself.

The crowd was energetic from his first step on stage, hands in the air, jumping, and shouting every lyric. Quinn fed off the energy entirely, moving across the wide stage, pointing his mic toward the crowd during choruses, and cracking jokes between songs. His set was a perfect balance of his newest album, LOOK! I’m Alive, and classic hits like “Candle,” “Stacy,” “Kings of Summer,” and “Straightjacket.”

Visually, the show was fun to shoot. The stage incorporated lots of color, vibrant lighting, and a massive disco ball that crowded the room in motion. Even when the lights dipped lower, it only added to the atmosphere, giving those slower songs a more intimate feel.

Some of my favorite moments came toward the end of his set. Quinn ran into the crowd, weaving all the way to the back of the venue. He launched a water bottle into the air, a signature move I managed to catch on camera. Later, he spotted someone on a friend’s shoulders and told everyone to do the same. Suddenly, the room was full of people lifted above the crowd, singing their lungs out. He even brought out his latest album’s producer to play harmonica on “Live & Let Go,” a small but memorable surprise.

Quinn’s shows always remind me why I love photographing live music. He’s genuine, incredibly thankful, and makes every fan feel like part of the show. Nights like this are exactly why I do what I do.
