YUNGBLUD’s explosive Paris Arena show on October 8

On October 8, the iconic English artist YUNGBLUD, whose music blends alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, and punk, made his return to Paris for his first French arena show at the Adidas Arena. With a sold-out crowd, everyone was buzzing with excitement.

The night had a packed lineup ahead, featuring two different openers. The North American alternative rock band Weathers took the stage at 7:30, and some people in the crowd had actually come just to see them, so the energy was pretty wild. They played some of their classics like “Happy Pills” and “C’est la vie,” while also surprising fans with a cover of “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan and an unreleased song called “Ugly.” The crowd responded enthusiastically, waving their arms in the air. They also taught the audience a bit of “Where Do I Sign?” with the lyrics “my mind my mind, sleep tight goodnight.”

After a quick break to set up the next stage, the North American rock band Palaye Royale entered the room, taking the energy even higher. Lead singer Remington Leith and guitarist Sebastian Danzig jumped into the photo pit to get closer to the fans, locking eyes, holding hands, and jumping along with them, which made the whole experience even more electric. The room lit up with phone flashlights as they played “Lonely,” and after saying “je t’aime, merci beaucoup,” they left the stage, leaving fans eager for more — and luckily, YUNGBLUD was next.

A little after 9 p.m., the lights dimmed in the room and fans started going crazy, knowing it could only mean one thing — YUNGBLUD would be in front of them in just a few seconds. On the screens, “hello” appeared in many different languages, and, to no one’s surprise, the intro of “Hello Heaven, Hello” echoed through the arena as YUNGBLUD made his entrance. Almost immediately, a burst of confetti filled the air, making the show spectacular from the very first moments.

The show was everything I expected and more. YUNGBLUD’s energy is something I had never witnessed before — there wasn’t a single dull moment. He was constantly jumping around, shouting to the crowd, “Jump, motherfuckers!,” “Stand up, stand up, stand up!,” “Are you gonna rock ’n’ roll? Are you gonna fucking scream? Are you gonna fucking go crazy?” The entire show felt like him hyping up his fans, but in the most genuine way. His fans were already screaming and jumping, but he pushed the energy higher out of love and respect — and it was beautiful to see. The scenography perfectly matched his energy, with fire erupting in nearly every song.

He went through the main songs from his latest album Idols, like “Idols Pt. I,” “LoveSick Lullaby,” and even “Fire,” while still playing older gems like “The Funeral,” “ice cream man,” and “fleabag” — during which one of the most special moments of the night happened when a fan held up a sign asking to play the guitar and YUNGBLUD agreed. The fan played the song perfectly, proving just how much trust YUNGBLUD has in his listeners.

Other memorable moments included him smoking on stage, throwing water and beer into the crowd, reaching out to hold fans’ hands, and even standing on their hands as they lifted him up. The end of “Lowlife” turned into a beautiful a cappella moment, with the crowd singing “la la la la” while YUNGBLUD smiled and said how insane the show felt to him. He shared that his first time performing in Paris was back in 2018 at the small venue Supersonic, which only holds about 300 people — compared to the 9,000-capacity Adidas Arena. Seeing how proud he was was truly beautiful to witness. He also hinted at a possible relocation of his festival “Bludfest” when he casually said, “Bludfest Paris?,” sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The most emotional moment of the night came midway through the set, when YUNGBLUD expressed his love and respect for Ozzy Osbourne, saying, “He’s the reason so many of us know each other tonight” as the iconic piano intro from “Changes” began. He had already mentioned that he vowed to perform this song every night for the rest of his life in tribute to the legendary rock icon. The cover was incredibly special and moving — for a few minutes, it felt as if time itself had stopped. Fans also planned to surprise him during this song with thousands of signs saying “We won’t let you down,” a gesture that seemed to touch YUNGBLUD deeply and brought him to tears.

He left the stage after “Loner,” only to return for an encore with two iconic Idols songs that fans had been hoping for all night: “Ghosts” and “Zombie.” During the last one, fans lit up the arena with their flashlights — pink on the floor and white in the stands — creating a beautiful and emotional finale to an already perfect night. We can’t wait for YUNGBLUD to return to France, hopefully for “Bludfest” next year.
