On October 4, Novulent took the stage at the Vinyl in Atlanta, Georgia. All the way from Houston, Texas, this rising rock artist brought incredible energy to the peach state. While it was a later show for a Saturday night, you could see and feel the energy buzzing waiting for the show to start. I observed multiple groups of friends laughing, taking pictures together, and vibing along with anticipation of how the night would go.
The opener, Zeruel, broke the room into immediate movement. Concertgoers were swaying, headbanging and singing along to the sounds of both metalcore and shoegaze with a lot of melodic elements intertwined. The crowd went crazy for more throughout the set that the band graced the audience with an additional song at the end of their time on stage. The cheers were impressive and held the tone of greed for more.
I became enraptured when Novulent started playing. It was moody, electric, and enticing. The room was packed, and more people were coming in the door, immediately captivated by the music playing before them. I watched as people jumped with excitement, screamed for more, and even opened a mosh pit. It was almost as if the energy could not be contained in their bodies. At one point, someone was crowdsurfed to the stage, stage dove and crowdsurfed back again. It was erratic and something I do not think I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ultimately, I can say for myself as well as other attendees that it was a night to remember.
“It’s just what we live for there’s nothing else to say – the night speaks for itself” – Novulent
