Boston-bred seven-piece Couch has been steadily building a reputation for big grooves, bigger horns, and a chemistry made from equal parts friendship and sweat-soaked live shows. At this point, they’re not just Boston royalty, they’re known throughout the nation. This past weekend, the band made their national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning’s Saturday Sessions, performing tracks from their upcoming debut album Big Talk, out October 24.
The set included “On The Wire,” “Little Less Over You,” and longtime fan-favorite “Jessie.” The short set showcased what has made Couch one of New England’s buzziest exports: big horn arrangements, commanding vocals and stage presence from Tema Siegel, and the kind of retro-pop warmth that translates effortlessly from the studio to the stage.
Big Talk: A record of love in all its forms
Due October 24, Big Talk is Couch’s first full-length release and promises to be their boldest statement yet. Mastered by Colin Leonard (known for his work with Justin Bieber and Beyoncé), the album reflects on love – whether that’s romantic, platonic, or self – while balancing live instrumentation to deliver Couch’s biggest project yet.
Lead guitarist Zach Blankstein describes the record as “our reflection on multidimensional love…and the kind of bold, honest connection that comes from shedding small talk and saying what you really mean.” That tension defines the 11-track collection, which balances anthemic hooks with the intimacy of lived experience.
A 36-city tour across three continents
To celebrate the album, Couch is launching their most ambitious tour yet: a 36-date run across North America, the U.K., and Europe stretching from November through spring 2026. The tour kicks off November 6 in Detroit and includes some pretty big stops at Brooklyn Steel, Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club, Roadrunner in Boston, The Fonda in Los Angeles, and KOKO in London. Support comes from Stephen Day, Night Talks, and Thumber on select dates.
From bedrooms to big stages
What began as a patchwork of high school friendships has grown into a self-produced, self-managed band operating on a global scale. With Tema Siegel (vocals), Zach Blankstein (guitar), Jared Gozinsky (drums), Will Griffin (bass), Danny Silverston (keys), Jeffrey Pinsker-Smith (trumpet), and Eric Tarlin (saxophone), Couch’s evolution has always been about collaboration. Their blend of retro soul textures with modern pop flourishes feels less like a genre exercise and more like a natural extension of their roots.
With Big Talk on the horizon and their first major headline tour about to begin, Couch is no longer Boston’s best-kept secret.
