Ruel releases “Wild Guess”

Australian pop phenomenon Ruel makes his return with “Wild Guess,” out now via Giant Music. The track strips things back to reveal a raw, vulnerable side of Ruel’s artistry, spotlighting the emotional depth that continues to define his evolving sound. Co-written with Leroy Clampitt (Justin Bieber, Madison Beer) and Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift), and produced by the duo, “Wild Guess” offers the latest preview of Ruel’s heavily anticipated sophomore album Kicking My Feet, dropping on October 17, 2025. The single will premiere on Apple Music’s New Music Daily with a FaceTime conversation with Zane Lowe. The album is now available for pre-order.

With its delicate acoustic backdrop and folk-leaning vocal delivery, “Wild Guess” illustrates the slow unraveling of a relationship and the quiet confusion of not knowing why it ended. “I’m not so sure / but I’m taking a wild guess / you’re slipping away from me,” Ruel sings, before landing on the bittersweet chorus: “It’s been a wild ride, but I won’t be your baby anymore.” The song moves and builds, highlighting the growing distance between two people while embracing the inevitability of letting go.

“Wild Guess” is now the third single off of the album Kicking My Feet, following “The Suburbs” and the lead single “I Can Die Now.” The album signals a new era for Ruel—creatively freer, emotionally richer, and sonically more daring than before. Since relocating from Sydney to Los Angeles and signing with Giant Music, Ruel has been immersed in a fresh creative landscape and built this album as a reflection of this new ecosystem. “I knew I wanted to push myself on this new album, but it wasn’t until I finalized the tracklist that I realized I’d actually made over 200 songs for Kicking My Feet,” he shares.

While building this record, Ruel collaborated with some of music’s most influential producers, including Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, One Direction), Joel Little (Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams), Kenny Beats (Dominic Fike, Ed Sheeran), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton), and longtime partner M-Phazes (Eminem, Kehlani, Ruel’s debut album). Together, they built a bold and vulnerable body of work that blends pop, alternative, and R&B into a cohesive, contemporary sound. The result is Ruel’s most adventurous and personal project yet—one that captures his growth as both an artist and a person.
