Late this summer, in August, Freddie Gibbs uncovered his “Alfredo The Tour” United States trek, featuring opener The Alchemist to ignite audiences on select dates, with additional support from Jalen Ngonda, MAVI, and Sven Wunder across various cities. The nearly two month run began in late September, with Fort Lauderdale, Florida, being one of the earlier shows in the series. The tour continues through November, concluding on November 9 in the Bay Area, so grab your tickets and settle into a night of hazy atmospheres and smooth flows.

“Alfredo The Tour” propels forward on the heels of Freddie Gibbs’ latest full-length offering, Alfredo 2. The album, released via Rabbit Vision/ALC Records/Virgin Music July 25, is a sequel to Gibbs’ monumental record released five years ago, Alfredo, and was highly-anticipated amongst fans, generating Gibbs and The Alchemist’s biggest album consumption and streaming week ever.
Constantly oozing with intention, Gibbs additionally collaborated with Nick Walker on a coinciding movie, Alfredo: The Movie, shot on location in Japan and offering a cryptic glimpse into the Alfredo 2 world. Gibbs further brings this visual component to life on stage, not only through elaborate yet accessible set designs, but additionally with his fashion choices, which reflect Japanese culture. The film is equal parts yakuza noir and “Ghost Dog,” casting Gibbs and The Alchemist as partners navigating a seedy, hyper-stylized version of the city’s criminal underground. The pair works in a ramen shop during the day while studying ancient methods of preparation, but quickly shifts from clips of day-time mundanity into evening treachery with the pair laundering money: alley negotiations, back room deals in smoky izakayas, and warrior monk training montages. The film is a bold reintroduction into the duo’s creative universe, steeped in noir aesthetics, shadowy criminal underworlds, and razor-sharp bars.
And while the film is impressive on it’s own, Gibbs expands the immersive realm of Alfredo 2 even further, launching “Alfredo II: The Game.” The street fighter-esque programing offers players the chance to take control of Gibbs or The Alchemist in a fight against the sensei. The game is soundtracked to the album, expanding the sonic identity of the record even further.
Freddie Gibbs is a shapeshifter of sorts, he is not an artist to rest on his laurels, constantly pushing boundaries beyond just his musical landscapes, often venturing into endeavors encompassed by film and fashion. Over the last decade, Gibbs has become a profound figure—a widespread influence—in the rap and R&B scene, and even with this acclaim, he continues to reinvent himself and redefine what musical artistry can be. In the same light, The Alchemist remains one of the most consistent producers in the game, working with the likes of Earl Sweatshirt, Boldy James, Larry June, MIKE and most recently Erykah Badu while continuing to mentor and co-sign a new generation of underground talent. When the pair come together, it’s generational, revolutionary, a match simply meant to happen. Alfredo 2 marks another chapter in both careers defined by reinvention and quiet domination.
If you haven’t submerged yourself in the carefully crafted dimensions of Freddie Gibbs yet, there is no better time than the present. Alfredo 2 ignites an era for Gibbs that promises continued evolution and intention. Purchase tickets now and become a part of the journey.
