With a new tour recently announced, Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) releases the second single of the new era, “Loser“. The song is paired with a well-stylized and cinematic music video directed by Kistofski and starring actor and musician, Joe Keery, best known for “Stranger Things” and his musical persona Djo. “Loser” is a natural progression of Parker’s musical curiosity and exhibits his nuanced exploration of rhythm and sound.

“Loser” follows the recent release of “End of Summer,” which ushered in the new era of Tame Impala. Parker is clearly bringing his listeners back to the house music and party era of the ’90s by experimenting with new layered sounds that are rich in hypnotic and synth-based textures. Parker’s new sound is heavily inspired by house and dance music and bridges the gap between nostalgia and a new modern sound.
