Styx bring the Grand Illusion and more to Cuyahoga, OH

Touring on the “Brotherhood of Rock Tour,” Styx, Kevin Cronin Band, and Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, made their way to Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, on August 20 for a night of classic rock that fans won’t soon forget. The crowd ranged from longtime followers to newer generations experiencing these legendary acts for the first time.

Don Felder opened the night, joined by Ben Mauro on guitar, Seth Rausch on drums, and Derek Frank on bass. He kicked things off with a cover of “Already Gone” by Robb Strandlund before launching into Eagles hits like “One of These Nights” and “The Long Run.” He also added a few solo tracks, including “Hollywood Victim” and “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride).” Felder closed his set with the iconic “Hotel California,” setting the tone for the night.

Next up was the Kevin Cronin Band, delivering a solid and energetic performance. Backed by Dave Amato (guitar), Bryan Hitt (drums), Derek Hilland (keys), and Matt Bissonette (bass), Cronin led the group through the full Hi Infidelity album, playing hits like “Don’t Let Him Go,” “Keep On Loving You,” and “Take It On The Run.” After wrapping up the album, they kept the momentum going with fan favorites like “Keep Pushin’,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” and ended their set with “Roll with the Changes.”

Finally, Styx took the stage. The lineup included original guitarist James “J.Y.” Young, longtime member Tommy Shaw, Lawrence Gowan (keys), Terry Gowan (bass), Todd Sucherman (drums), and Will Evankovich (guitar). Original bassist Chuck Panozzo also made a special guest appearance during the set.

They opened with a full performance of The Grand Illusion, playing songs like “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” “Superstars,” and “Come Sail Away.” The band moved through the album seamlessly, showing exactly why it remains one of their most important releases.

After finishing the album, Styx played a mix of their biggest hits, including “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Lady,” and “The Best of Times.” They closed the night with two of their most iconic tracks—”Mr. Roboto” and “Renegade“—as the crowd stood and sang along to every word.

The “Brotherhood of Rock Tour” brought together some of the biggest names in classic rock, giving fans a night filled with music, nostalgia, and high-energy performances from start to finish.
