Chance Peña, the critically acclaimed 25-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer from East Texas, is known for his signature blend of honesty, enticing, and cinematic folk-pop. He first gained industry recognition by co-writing John Legend’s GRAMMY-winning song “Conversations in the Dark.” In 2023, Chance achieved a major breakthrough with his single “i am not who i was,” garnering over 400 million streams globally. Building on this success, his debut album, Ever-Shifting, Continual Blossoming, was released in 2024.
On August 29, he released his second album, When I Change My Mind I Don’t Mean It, further solidifying his reputation as one of folk’s most compelling new voices.
Written and recorded in a California mountain cabin, the 14-track sophomore album was made with Hayd and Sarcastic Sounds. The album features some of his most poignant and expansive work, including the ballad “West of Ohio,” the anthem “Collapse,” and, a meditation on anxiety, “Wolves of Worry.” Each track highlights his poetic storytelling and vocals.
Written in snow and isolation, Chance created some of his best work, marked by an emotive, poetic sound.
Looking ahead, Chance has a major tour scheduled, over 30 show dates with The Lumineers and Tom Odell, respectively. He calls the chance to tour with such incredible musicians a “dream come true” as they are major influences for his work. He will be traveling across North America, joining The Lumineers for 20 tour dates and supporting Tom Odell for 14 dates in Europe before headlining three shows in Australia.
