GAEREA plunges into a new era with “Submerged”

Portuguese black metal band GAEREA is back with a surprise new single, “Submerged,” and an announcement of their signing to global metal powerhouse Century Media Records. Following up from their highly appraised album COMA, released less than a year ago in October 2024, the band is ready to continue to spearhead their growing momentum.

Submerged” expands on GAEREA’s signature atmospheric black metal foundation, but in a surprise turn, they have also incorporated more modern metalcore influence, weaving in cleaner vocals and melodic breaks. It is a true mark of their continued evolution into an entirely new era built upon almost 10 years of the band’s existence. While some long standing fans may see this as too big of a change from their core black metal roots, the undeniable catchiness of the track has already drawn in a new wave of fans.

“Submerged” is just a taste of what’s to come as GAEREA works on their next studio album, due for release in early 2026. With the growing momentum from just this release, GAEREA is certainly headed towards their biggest album yet. Ahead of that, the band will join labelmates Orbit Culture as support across the U.K. and Europe in the fall.

“We are excited to be working with GAEREA and their team,” states Century Media Vice President of A&R, Mike Gitter. “They are a rare band that transcends convenient genres and suggests something deeper on both musical, but also spiritual levels. In many ways, their story is just beginning.”
