Slow Joy joins post-hardcore trailblazers, Texas Is The Reason, for fall tour

Slow Joy, the solo project of Dallas-based, New Mexican-born Chicano artist Esteban Flores, has been making waves in the alt rock scene since his debut album’s, A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming, release in May 2025. Marking his first tour since the albums release, Slow Joy is set to make 29 stops from September through the middle of November, eight of which will accompany post-hardcore trailblazers Texas Is The Reason.

Flores has made a significant name for himself since the start of Slow Joy in 2020. His debut album, produced by Mike Sapone (Oso Oso, The Front Bottoms), gained critical acclaimation, and features “Gruesome,” which has had countless spins on alt radio stations across the country.

Having seen Slow Joy perform live, nothing about the joy I felt came on slowly. Slow Joy played a 90 minute show and Flores didn’t stop moving the entire time, even during his saddest of songs. At one point Flores even jumped up on top of the drum kit. His stage presence is meant for a stadium while his lyricism feels as intimate as an open mic night. A safe place to feel and heal, and mosh. Slow Joy has brought a fresh emotional perspective to the alternative rock scene, releasing intensely relatable songs about grief and self discovery all while genre blending grunge and emo elements. His 2023 single, “Crawl II,” is an incredible melancholy grunge-ballad about grief, Flores explains the intense pain of losing someone but still seeing them in your dreams, like they’re still there. One of my all time favorites.

As Slow Joy has crossover into the punk and grunge realm, it is no surprise Texas Is The Reason will share the stage with them from September to October. This tour is exemplary of the mark Flores is leaving on the scene. Texas Is The Reason is deep in the roots of the post-hardcore and punk landscape, inspiring many of the bands that followed, and having a dedicated fanbase can only mean that Slow Joy is going places – fast.

Slow Joy will continue the remaining tour dates with San Antonio, TX, alternative rock band Inoha, including several stops with Chicago alt rock/punk band Worry Club. Don’t miss this incredible lineup!
