The Dare has set the stage for his new EP, Freakquencies Vol. 1, launching with the single “Tambourine.” The EP is scheduled for release on August 22.
“Freakquencies: Vol. 1 is the first installment in a series of EPs aimed directly at the dance floor,” The Dare says. “These four tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves: French touch, big beat, electro, and acid. Whatever gets you there.”
Scheduled for release on August 22, this will be The Dare’s first-ever instrumental album. With a total of four tracks on the EP, The Dare is leaning into the sound he introduced at his notorious New York party, Freakquencies.
Freakquencies: Vol. 1 is following up on the deluxe version of his debut album, titled What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, which was released last year. After touring the record around the world with memorable festival sets at Coachella and Primavera Sound, expectations are high for the live presentation of this EP.
The Dare gained a significant amount of attention after releasing his hit single, “Girls,” which has surpassed 62 million streams on Spotify alone.
The Dare is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter, and producer Harrison Patrick Smith. He is credited for his contributions to various projects beyond his solo work. Notably, he produced PinkPantheress’ hit song “Stateside” and performed alongside Charli XCX at the 67th annual Grammy Awards. As a result, he has gained recognition in the music industry.
