Folk ode to friendship: Acclaimed New England singer-songwriter

“Emily” Single & Music Video Out Now

Rising New England star Halley Neal has just released her new track titled “Emily,” accompanied by a music video. “Emily” is a blend of folk and pop, offering magical melodies, rich acoustics, and beautiful vocals. Halley gives an insight into the message behind the song, stating, “’Emily’ is a song I wrote for my oldest friend, someone who shaped my childhood in quiet but profound ways. It’s about the kind of bond that leaves a permanent mark on your heart, even when time and distance pull you apart. Writing this song helped me reconnect not just with her, but with the part of myself she helped me believe in. It’s a reminder of how important it is to say the things we often leave unsaid. At its core, ‘Emily’ is about gratitude, memory, and the power of a friendship that lasts through everything.”

Award-winning folk singer Halley Neal is known for her unique music, which has elements of warmth, positivity, and peace at its core. A Boston-based artist, Halley combines deeply felt songwriting with ethereal vocals and instrumentation. Mainly accompanied by her upright bass and fiddle, each show is an intimate and moving set that brings her sincere lyrics and angelic voice to life.

After the positive reception to her 2022 album Beautiful and Blue, Halley’s next goal is to release her sophomore record, Letter for a Friend, with a 2025 fall release date. Halley continues to explore the personal element within her work as the collections of songs are letters to the people who have helped her become the person and artist she is today. This offering is by far her most narrative-driven and intimate creation, being recorded in Nashville, close to her home.

She has began to make her effect on the American folk scenes, including national tours under her belt, performing in a collection of folk venues around the U.S. Halley has also brought her uplifting music to major festivals such as the Kerrville Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. One of the most notable moments for Halley was when she opened and partnered with Grammy-winning artist Sara Bareilles – an opportunity to showcase her talent and continue to build up her presence in the modern folk scene.
