Audrey Hobert: New single out & album release date

Fast-rising pop star Audrey Hobert just released her third single, “Wet Hair,“‘ from her highly anticipated debut album who’s the clown?, set to release August 15 via RCA Records.

“‘Wet Hair’ is the first song I wrote by myself. I had just broken up with the boyfriend from ‘Sue me.’ I was intrigued by the possibilities—aren’t break-ups classically great song inspiration? Yet there I sat, unelectrified by the whole thing. I just started writing out what was happening to me on my laptop at that moment, not putting it to music right away. Soon enough, I was singing ‘Wet Hair.’ The song in its essence is about not being worried about ‘it.’ Not needing to look your best to see your ex, not even needing dry hair. Knowing that you at your physical worst is still his greatest dream. Knowing you have the upper hand and leaning into it in a respectful way. It’s lackadaisical, it’s a story—just like it was breaking up with him. Oops.”

Audrey Hobert about her new single

Fans have been waiting for an album since Audrey released her debut single “Sue me,” which took the internet by storm. Currently sitting with over 25 million streams worldwide and over 700,000 views on the music video, Hobert followed up with another hit, “Bowling Alley,” and sold out live debuts in New York, Los Angeles, and London. It seems this is one of the most anticipated debut albums in recent years.

Hobert has been working on this project for the past year alongside production partner Ricky Gourmet. This project represents Audrey’s exploration of her own creative vision. The title and artwork came to her one day while waking up early, the rest was created in the notes app on her phone, long hours at her desk, on walks, or at a coffee table.

She is no stranger to being in the writers’ room, having written with long-time friend Gracie Abrams on tracks for her album The Secret Of Us. Following this, she signed a publishing deal, putting a pause on her plans to pursue TV writing. As she kept writing, it was clear that this music was her own, and so the artist project was born.
