In honor of the five year anniversary of Juice WRLD‘s legendary album Legends Never Die, Juice’s team has partnered up with XXXTENTACION’s estate for a new tear-jerking track called “The Way.”
It’s no secret that Juice WRLD and XXXTENTACION were some of the most talented and influential artists of the younger generations, and “The Way” only solidifies their legendary standings. This acoustic heart-breaking ballad showcases both artists’ emotional internal struggles, touching on how it feels to feel lost while simultaneously doing everything you can to grow and evolve as a person. From X’s hauntingly angelic vocals to Juice’s calm but confident flows, this track is the epitome of what could have been if these artists were still with us today. Listen to “The Way” on Spotify here, and give the music video a watch down below.
However, this single doesn’t come without an interesting debate. Fans were quick to argue about the authenticity of these posthumous releases. This song originally started as an unfinished solo X track, with the vocals consisting of nothing more than what you hear from him on this song. From there, both teams took Juice’s vocals from his unreleased track “Inner Peace” and used them to manufacture this posthumous release. In other words, this track did not exist while either artist was alive and neither artist had any say into the artistic integrity of this song. With that being said, I still believe the song is beautiful. Unfortunately, neither artist is here anymore, and as the years go by, their unreleased music gets more and more scarce. I’m just happy to see new music coming from these artists and for their names to still be talked about in the media in 2025. As a big fan of both of these artists’ music, I will take what I can get at this point, and nobody can deny that this track is amazing.
Rest in peace, Juice WRLD & XXXTENTACION.
