Nashville indie-folk artist Hunter Metts has just released a new track, “Blue Ridge Run,” a love letter to the peaceful power of the Appalachian Landscape. Out now via Position Music/Interscope Records, the song captures the same emotional depth that made his breakout hit, “Weathervane,” a viral favorite last year.
“Blue Ridge Run” is a reflection on the stillness and freedom that Hunter finds in nature, especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains. “The Blue Ridge Mountains are a place I go to whenever I feel uninspired, or whenever life feels really heavy,” Hunter explains. “I wanted to create a song specifically about how free I feel whenever I’m there. From the instrumentation to the lyrics, I hope people can feel that same freedom through this song.”
This track is the latest in a string of heartfelt releases from Hunter Metts, following songs like “Abilene,” written about the Texas town where his grandfather was adopted, and the viral hit “Weathervane,” which has earned over 47 million streams so far. With each release, he continues carving out a sound that’s rooted in authenticity and wonder— music that feels as honest as it is healing.
This fall, Hunter will hitting the road for his first ever U.S. headline tour, “a crater wide tour,” kicking off October 28 in Minneapolis. He’ll hit iconic venues such as New York City’s Mercury Lounge and Boston’s Brighton Music Hall, following a run of European dates in September and October.
