What do you think of when you hear, “Walk into the room, purse first?” Chances are your first thought is actually the famous, talented, and funny Bob the Drag Queen. Bob the Drag Queen was on Season 8 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” leaving his mark with several iconic one-liners and hilarious onscreen moments. On June 25, the drag legend and NY-Times Best Seller author took matters into his own hands and launched Purse First Studios, a creative production company with a variety of never-before-seen projects.
With the launch of Purse First Studios comes the first monthly digital show, “The Big Question,” which can be found on the Purse First Studios’ Youtube. Within each episode, Bob will interview friends, colleagues, fellow comedians, and even strangers with quizzical questions that most either haven’t thought of or heard of before. To tease the series, the first episode has just debuted asking the question, “Why do black people hate musicals?”
Purse First Studios will soon launch “Back In My Day,” where the mic will be handed to queer elders. Doing this will give them a voice and let them reflect on their lives, the evolution of queer culture, and most importantly what things were like “back in their day.”
Additional launches coming soon will include exclusive stand up specials, weekly podcasts, a morning show, a pop culture roundup, as well as live events, and much more!
“Purse First Studios has so many amazing projects coming up,” shared Bob with Variety. “I’ve lived so much of my career in front of the camera, now I want to show you what I can do behind the scenes as well.”
Bob the Drag Queen is truly incredible, appearing on multiple television series after winning Season 8 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” He’s also appeared on HBO’s “We’re Here” and NBC’s “The Traitors” (the former being awarded a Peabody Award, GLAAD Media Award, and a Television Academy Honors recognition), created the award-winning podcast “Sibling Rivalry” with his drag sister Monét X Change, and most recently released his New York Times best-selling debut novel, “Harriet Tubman: Live In Concert,” for which he appeared on “The View,” “CBS Mornings,” and the “Sherri” show.
Bob is represented by UTA, Producer Entertainment Group, and Gangtyre. Subscribe and follow Purse First Studios at @purse.first.studios on Instagram and @pursefirststudios on Youtube and TikTok. (All links are down below).
