Get ready to throw yourself headfirst into the whirlwind — Die Spitz, the riotous punk powerhouse out of Austin, Texas, is releasing their debut full-length album Something to Consume on September 12 via Third Man Records. And if the name didn’t give it away, this is not a record that plays it safe.

Blending raw punk energy, hardcore urgency, alt-rock attitude, and flashes of metal grit, Die Spitz are redefining what it means to make heavy music in the modern age. Their lead single, “Throw Yourself to the Sword,” drops alongside a visceral new music video and offers a blistering taste of what’s to come — a fearless, blood-pumping anthem for those ready to rise above the noise and chaos.
“There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming,” says guitarist/vocalist Ellie Livingston. With lyrics rooted in the fallout of postmodern society and the personal battles within it, Something to Consume is both a call to arms and an introspective look at what eats away at us — and what we cling to for survival.
Die Spitz — Ellie Livingston, Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, and Kate Halter — are more than a band. They’re a sisterhood of sound forged in lifelong friendship and the kind of honesty only true creatives can share. Trading instruments and songwriting duties freely, the band thrives on their chemistry, whether it’s on record or during their notorious live shows — think crowd-surfing solos, dueling cartwheels, and climbing the rafters without missing a beat.
Produced by Will Yip (Turnstile, Mannequin Pussy), the album captures both their intensity and emotional depth. From the snarling hooks of “American Porn” to the melancholic swirl of “a strange moon/selenophilia,” Something to Consume doesn’t just show range — it shows guts.
Now in the middle of their first-ever U.K. and EU tour, the band is already selling out shows across Europe. From a sold-out gig in London to a buzz-worthy slot at the 2000 Trees Festival, Die Spitz are proving that their punk revolution is global.
But don’t worry, U.S. fans — Die Spitz is coming for you, too. A headlining tour kicks off this October, including stops in Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Toronto, and a hometown blowout at Stubb’s in Austin.
Their story began not in a garage, but in a friendship that started in preschool. After a drunken Mötley Crüe movie night, the band was born — and with it, a mission. As bassist Kate Halter learned her instrument from scratch to join in, Die Spitz evolved into something more than a band. It’s a vessel for freedom, truth, and total expression.
“Whether it’s based in metal or something soft, no matter who wrote the song, we all contribute and work together,” says Livingston. “As a person, I don’t have a strong ego or voice, but within this band, each one of us is capable of so much more.”
