In the lead-up to his awaited North American headline tour kicking off in Los Angeles on August 23, internationally renowned and rebellious British rocker Yungblud has released his fourth studio album, IDOLSListen HERE

His most bold creation so far, IDOLS is the first part of a double album, with the sequel’s release date soon to be announced, it marks the continuation of inspiring growth from the 27-year-old artist, whose previous two albums reached No. 1 in the U.K., made its arrival on the Billboard Top 100, and has accomplished 6 billion streams globally.

The album is joined by a breathtaking live performance video exclusive of the featured track “Ghosts” – an impactful piano piece, accompanied by one of the most powerful vocal performances of Yungblud’s discography. Discussing the track, Yungblud stated, “It’s about comprehending mortality. I wrote it while walking down the banks of the River Thames, thinking how many people had walked the same path and what was going through their heads while they were doing it.” He states further, “We’re gone in the blink of an eye, and life is precious and fast. Don’t forget to live it. The Outro of Ghosts was one of my favourite pieces of music that we’ve written for this album. I just let my imagination run. It’s inspired by opera, specifically ‘The King and I’. Everyone thought I was crazy when I referenced that in a rock recording session. But f*ck it. That’s Idols!”

To block out all outside influences and evade the set-in stone, conventional approach often found in mainstream studio song writing and production, all 12 songs that make up IDOLS were recorded close to where Yungblud grew up in the North of England, with producer Matt Schwartz guiding Bob Bradley with additional production, and guitarist Adam Warrington

The initial single “Hello Heaven, Hello” made its impact on the internet and defied conventions of traditional singles, with its entire nine minutes and six seconds being premiered on BBC Radio 1 and moving onto the U.S. soon after. The wild and rowdy sequel, “Lovesick Lullaby,” has been summarized as “combining Liam Gallagher’s sneer with Beach Boys’ harmonies” as well as “uniquely Yungblud” by the BBC. His most recent single, “Zombie,” showcases Yungblud collaborating with Academy Award-nominated actress Florence Pugh to bring to life an agonizingly beautiful music video, shining a spotlight on healthcare workers. “Zombie’”is justifiably his most complex single so far, introducing a new range to the musician’s songwriting.

On IDOLS, Yungblud explores the theme of hero-worship: as we search for validation from others, we elevate their lives above our own and decrease the value of our personal experiences in the process. Yungblud explains, “We turn to others for an identity before turning to ourselves. Self-belief, self-reclamation, self-evolution, and change. As we grow up, we lose our belief in magic and mystery. We begin to rationalise everything; our cage walls build up.” He added, “We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast.”

IDOLS is now available in a variety of formats such as digital, CD, and four vinyl variants; standard black vinyl, limited edition signed “Distant Smoke” marble vinyl, indie exclusive signed “Supermoon” silver vinyl, Amazon exclusive “Wishing Well” magenta vinyl, and Spotify exclusive “Hell and Back” two-colour vinyl. Every vinyl includes a four-page lyric booklet and one of six collectable double-sided photo prints, unique to each vinyl variation, cleverly designed to form a cross-shaped image when all have been obtained.

On June 21, Yungblud is returning for the second year of his anticipated festival, Bludfest, at the Milton Keynes National Bowl. The electric lineup will include acclaimed artists Chase Atlanticblackbear, and Denzel Curry, alongside emerging British stars Rachel Chinouriri and Nieve EllaVisit Bludfest.com for more information.

On August 23, Yungblud’s 16-date North American headline tour will begin in Los Angeles, California, with Sawyer Hill opening for all the dates. For more details, go to: www.yungbludofficial.com/tour/
