Silverstein releases punishing single and music video, “Drain The Blood,” featuring Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker.
Silverstein’s guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau recently divulged insight into the band’s creative process. “Each time I start making an album, I have a self-imposed rule: I can’t abandon my first idea. Whatever I start on day one, I have to finish,” he shares. This approach led to the creation of “Drain the Blood,” a track that Rousseau describes as his favorite of the entire project – and possibly even their entire career!
The essence of “Drain the Blood” is clear: it’s a declaration to keep AI out of art. Rousseau aimed for each section of the song to surprise listeners, embracing a human touch that AI could never replicate. The lyrics are delightfully irreverent and dramatic, leaving fans wondering if they venture into the realm of science fiction. Shane Told, the band’s frontman, adds, “‘Drain the Blood’ is our response to the growing fear that machines are starting to replace what makes music—and other art—human. It’s a powerful warning and a reminder that our emotions can’t be automated.”
The accompanying music video was shot in an intriguing studio in Los Angeles that evokes vibes reminiscent of “Severance” and “Black Mirror.” They continued the shoot along the LA River, tapping into the gritty energy of “Terminator 2.” Told remarks on the raw vigor Rory brought to the project, serving to energize the entire vision.
The new album, Pink Moon, arises alongside sessions for Antibloom and is a carefully sequenced collection designed for an immersive listening experience. True to Silverstein’s style, it balances emotional flow with distinct storytelling, capturing the essence of the desert winds that inspired it. Fans can look forward to some stunning collaborations as Pink Moon features guest appearances from Rodriguez and Cassadee Pope—voices that were chosen mid-process to take certain tracks to new heights.
The dual release allows every song to breathe, resonate, and evolve in its space. To celebrate a quarter-century of unforgettable music, Silverstein invites fans from all over to join them on the “25 Years of Noise Tour.” This summer, they’ll heat things up in Australia with Real Friends and perform at the Long Beach stop of the Vans Warped Tour. Mark your calendars for the grand finale on December 20 in Brooklyn, where they’ll be joined by Thursday, The Movielife, Free Throw, and Bloom!
Get ready for an exhilarating ride through their musical journey as Silverstein continues to break boundaries and connect with fans in new ways!
