Jake Minch announces release of debut album ‘George’

Jake Minch is stepping into a new chapter. The 22-year-old singer-songwriter has announced the release of his debut album George, set to release July 11 via 2for2 projects/Mercury Records. Accompanying that announcement, he shared one of his most personal songs yet.

“Fingers and Clothes,” out now, is an emotionally sharp track that uses a cigarette habit as a stand in for old feelings that never really left.

Jake says:

“‘Fingers and Clothes’ uses my bad cigarette habit as a metaphor for my love life.”

“I’d tell people I wasn’t smoking, then I’d go to a party and have one, then another, then I’d buy a pack and tell the person I was dating ‘no I quit cigarettes!’ but I smelled like a Marlboro Red. The craving for cigarettes creeped back into my life, just like feelings for my old crush did—and both habits infiltrated my first adult relationship.”

The Connecticut native first broke through in 2023 with the release of breakout single “handgun.” The teaser racked up over a million views and caught the attention of artist like Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan, Gracie Abrams, and more. Since then, Jake has built a loyal fan base around his raw lyrics and storytelling, touring across the globe sharing stages with The Head and The Heart, Jeremy Zucker, Holly Humberstone, Grace Enger, and Sadie Jean.

His upcoming debut album George, named after his birth name, is a deeply personal collection of tracks that digs into the messiness of growing up, relationships, grief, and identity. Recorded between Los Angeles and his home state of Connecticut, the album was produced with Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, Boygenius) and features guitar work from Mason Stoops (Lizzy McAlpine, Role Model). Across it’s 12 tracks, George taps into something most teenagers know all too well – growing up, leaving home, and the feeling of discomfort that comes with it.

There is more to come from Jake soon. But for now, “Fingers and Clothes” offers a glimpse into the world of George, a debut that’s shaping up to be just as raw and real as the artist behind it.

With a gift for turning personal moments into something universal, Jake Minch is emerging as one of the most exciting new artists to watch.
