The Melvins announce fall U.S. “Stop Your Whining Tour” with special guests Redd Kross.
Two legendary bands unite for coast-to-coast trek.
LOS ANGELES, May 13, 2025 – The Melvins are wrapping up 2025 with their “Stop Your Whining Tour,” a six-week run featuring special guests Redd Kross, delivering a powerhouse pairing of underground rock legends.
Renowned for their heavy riffs, boundary-pushing sound, and quirky humor, the Melvins continue to surprise and inspire fans nearly 40 years into their career. The current lineup—Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald (also of Redd Kross), and Coady Willis—stands as one of the most influential and unpredictable forces in heavy music today. Their latest album, Thunderball, has been praised as featuring some of their “most irresistible, huge-sounding tunes” (Kerrang!) and hailed by AllMusic as “utterly uncompromised and full of swampy vigor.”
Joining the Melvins on the entire tour are Los Angeles rock icons Redd Kross, known for their vibrant mix of punk, retro glam, and garage rock that has earned them a devoted cult following since the early ‘80s. Redd Kross were recently the focus of both a book—”Now You’re One Of Us: The Incredible Story of Redd Kross“—and a documentary, “Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story.”

The Melvins stand as one of modern music’s most influential bands. Formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the group was founded by vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later. They are widely recognized for blending punk rock with heavy music, creating a unique subgenre all their own. Over their more than 40-year career, the Melvins have released over 30 original studio albums, numerous live recordings, and countless singles and rarities. Recent highlights include Thunderball, a 1983-era release featuring Osborne reuniting with the band’s original drummer Mike Dillard; Tarantula Heart (2024), an album built around songs inspired by improvised live sessions; the six-track Bad Mood Rising (2022); and Five Legged Dog (2021), a sprawling 36-track acoustic collection that reinvents their heaviest songs alongside covers of their favorite artists.
