MAY 13, 2025 [New York, NY] – After a triumphant year in 2024, Manchester post-punk icons CHAMELEONS are keeping the momentum going with the announcement of their new album, Arctic Moon, set for release on September 12, 2025, via Metropolis Records. The full-length album follows a prolific period for the band, coming on the heels of two recent EPs—Where Are You? and Tomorrow Remember Yesterday—released over the past year.
“Our new album Arctic Moon is finally finished, and we’re now preparing for its mid-September release,” shares vocalist/bassist Vox. “There’s a noticeable maturity in the songwriting this time. Fans familiar with our earlier work will definitely hear that this is a step forward.”
Alongside the album announcement, CHAMELEONS have also revealed plans for a Fall 2025 tour to bring Arctic Moon to the stage. “We’re really proud of how the record turned out and can’t wait to perform the new material live later this year,” Vox adds. “For the first time, we’ve incorporated real orchestral strings into a few tracks—arranged and recorded by Pete Whitfield at Real Strings in Manchester—which adds an epic dimension. Our keyboardist Danny Ashberry will have his work cut out for him live, but we’re confident he’ll deliver.”
Following their summer run with Psychedelic Furs, which wraps mid-July, the band will return to North America in late September to kick off the Arctic Moon tour. Launching in Seattle on September 26, the tour includes stops in Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, before wrapping in Phoenix.

Long regarded as a profoundly influential force in modern music, Chameleons have inspired a wide array of artists including The Verve, Oasis, White Lies, The Slow Readers Club, Interpol, The Killers, and Editors, among many others. Their legacy has been forged through a powerful and transformative discography, paired with emotionally resonant and immersive live performances. The band’s prior releases—Script of the Bridge (1983), hailed by many as a visionary work ahead of its time, What Does Anything Mean? Basically! (1984), Strange Times (1986), and Why Call It Anything? (2001)—have each cemented their reputation as post-punk pioneers.
Now, with the upcoming release of Arctic Moon, Chameleons add a bold new chapter to their story—pushing their sound forward while staying rooted in the atmospheric intensity that defined their early work. “While we’re proud of the band’s legacy, we really set out to create something fresh that still carried the depth and imagination people associate with us,” says Vox. “Those who’ve heard the new record—including some of our most trusted longtime fans—agree it’s a strong evolution.”
With new music from Arctic Moon set to debut in the coming weeks, the band is eager to share this next phase with listeners. “Everyone gave their absolute best on this project,” adds Vox. “I genuinely can’t wait for people to hear it. I think it’ll give us great momentum and really energize us for what comes next.”
Chameleons are: Reg Smithies (guitar), Vox (bass, vocals, lyrics), Stephen Rice (guitar), Danny Ashberry (keyboards), and Todd Demma (drums).
