Following three triumphant sold-out shows at London’s iconic Hammersmith Apollo last year, The Teskey Brothers have announced the release of their new album Live At The Hammersmith Apollo – out Friday July 11 via Glassnote Records, and available to pre-order now. The live album is an immersive extension of the band’s rich and beloved catalogue, featuring songs from their #1 ARIA Charting third album, The Winding Way, a powerful cover of Otis Redding’s ‘Try A Little Tenderness’ (out everywhere) and for the first time on vinyl/CD, one of the band’s early hits, ‘Forever You and Me’

“To go from playing to 30 people at The Slaughtered Lamb, to three nights at the Apollo, it’s quite a special thing. This live record, for us, really collects that experience and bottles it up in one little neat package. There’s something about historical venues like Apollo where so much good energy somehow gets captured in the walls. And it’s a bit hard to describe, the great mystery of these things, but that’s why we went back there for three nights, hit record and tried to capture that feeling.” – Sam Teskey

“The way Otis Redding played Try A Little Tenderness was a very special thing. We’re very honoured to just try and do our little way of playing it too.” – Sam Teskey

True to their passion for analogue, Live At The Hammersmith Apollo was recorded entirely to tape—the way classic live albums by Bruce Springsteen (’75) and David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust, ’73) were captured in the very same venue. To bring this to life, the band enlisted London-based producer and engineer Declan Gaffney, known for his work on live recordings with U2 and The Rolling Stones. Gaffney set up a temporary studio just behind the stage curtain, where the tape rolled through a vintage Studer A80 reel-to-reel machine, borrowed from the nearby Metropolis Studios.

While the process is nostalgic, the heart of the record really lies in showcasing The Teskey Brothers’ chemistry. Backed by their stellar touring band—Olaf Scott (keys), Fabian Hunter (bass), Audrey Powne (trumpet), Nick Lawrence (drums), and Lily Shaw (sax)—the album captures a group of musicians fully in sync, delivering an electrifying live experience.

Live At The Hammersmith Apollo is The Teskey Brothers’ sixth album. Their previous release, The Winding Way, debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart and earned major accolades, including Best Blues & Roots Album at the 2023 ARIA Awards and Best Record of 2023 at the Rolling Stone Awards.

The Winding Way followed the success of Run Home Slow, which peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts, it also picked up three ARIA Awards, and earned Sam Teskey a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album. That record laid the groundwork for global headline tours and confirmed the band’s upward trajectory. But it was their 2017 debut, Half Mile Harvest, that lit the fuse—introducing The Teskey Brothers as a modern soul outfit deeply rooted in timeless R&B tradition.
