Punk fans, get ready—the quickly growing artist of the generation, Yungblud, is releasing his fourth studio album this June. After his last two albums hit No. 1 in the U.K., broke into the Billboard Top 100, and his back catalogue has added up to an astonishing 6 billion streams globally, the artist has very recently announced his brand-new, highly anticipated album IDOLS, being released on June 20 via Locomotion/Capitol Records.
On the album IDOLS, Yungblud writes about themes such as hero worship, how we seek validation from those around us, and putting other people’s lives on pedestals. Yungblud said, “We turn to others for an identity before turning to ourselves. Self-belief, self-reclamation, self-evolution and change. As we grow up, we lose our belief in magic and mystery. We begin to rationalise everything; our cage walls build up.” He also added, “We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast”.
The news of the album and latest tour dates broke following the latest release of his single “Lovesick Lullaby,” watch the music video here, and the music video prior to that, “Hello Heaven, Hello,” which you can watch here. Both of these pieces of new music will be included in his new 12-track album, and these songs are already having fans raving about it all over social media. Many fans of Yungblud have compared the feeling of the song “Lovesick Lullaby” to “90’s Oasis crossed with Blur,” causing more and more excitement for whats to come next month.
