Ten years later, X Ambassadors come home with a new spin on VHS

It’s been a decade since VHS introduced the world to the gritty, alt-rock sound of X Ambassadors — and this fall, they’re bringing it all back home. The band will mark the album’s 10th anniversary with two nights in Ithaca, playing the State Theatre on September 19 and 20.

These hometown shows are just the beginning. The group is also releasing VHS(X) this summer: a reimagined version of their debut that reworks songs like “Renegades” and “Unsteady” with the hindsight of 10 years and a lot of road behind them.

“This album was mostly made in hotel rooms, green rooms, bathrooms—anywhere we could steal a moment,” shares Sam. “We were just trying to hang on. Reworking it now feels like closure.”

Forming in 2009, the band exploded with the success of their debut album, VHS (2015). The platinum-certified album provides an intimate look into the childhood of bandmates and brothers, Casey and Sam Nelson Harris, and led the band to a three-year world tour.

Tickets to the pair of Ithaca shows are available now via xambassadors.com. Other tour dates have yet to be released, but teased with a blurred-out tour poster!
