Bury Tomorrow release new single, “Forever The Night”

May is a hot month for new music because I’ve got several reminders of new albums dropping in just under two weeks. One of those new albums is Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience by Bury Tomorrow. Bury Tomorrow is a recent discovery from me after I saw them co-headline with While She Sleeps. Like While She Sleeps, Bury Tomorrow is a British metalcore band and they are amazing to see live.

Just this past Friday, we received another track from Bury Tomorrow’s upcoming album, “Forever the Night.” This track is about feelings of euphoria and how that strong feeling blinds one from seeing the truth in things. High emotions and tension can cloud judgement and we neglect to face the reality, often because we are too scared of what it might mean for us. Sometimes we pick that ideal situation because it seems more hopeful, but it ends up being more damaging than facing the real answer to life.

“Forever the Night” starts off with such a hard hook that transitions into a haunting moment briefly. The harshness of the guitar and gruffness of the vocals portray with the lyrics so well, especially with the smooth transitions into the melodies.

I especially love the line, “The darkness that lives in you is the same one that I live in.” Something about it just gives me goosebumps and is such a big reminder to why a lot of bands write the music they do. It’s to remind you that no matter what, you’re not alone in whatever you are facing. Bury Tomorrow was born from the shared feelings of frustration from a disconnect in life from times of anxiety, self-sabotage, and the noise. Everyone wants clarity and peace, but no one knows where to look, or because it seems so grim, we feel like it’s a never-ending battle by ourselves.

Intertwining this single with the upcoming album release, guitarist Kristan Dawson explains how the title captures the essence they hope to provide their listeners.

“To haunt is to revisit or recur persistently to the consciousness of someone or something. There’s beauty in that commitment somewhat. In a world full of distraction, discourse, instancy and demand, patience seems hard to attain. In patience there is peace, one thing society is short of. The title serves as a call of reflection, relying on the present moment, remembering what truly matters. I think the notion of patience being haunting is quite a contrast and that’s certainly reflective of the album musically.”

Their contrast in the words haunt and patience are so intriguing, and I cannot wait to hear the whole album together. Each song grapples the hard moments of devastation to the reminders that no one is ever truly alone in this world.

In a couple weeks, Bury Tomorrow is going on a U.K./EU tour in support of Electric Callboy. Check out the dates on their social media and maybe grab a ticket to a show!
