Slow Joy releases love song of the century, “Here For You”

In just a couple short weeks, Slow Joy is releasing A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming, his debut album. We’ve received two tracks early, and just this past Friday, we were blessed with a third one. I didn’t think I could be surprised any more by how good his music is—guess I was wrong! I don’t keep up with celebrity relationships and drama until it surfaces, but this little tidbit took the cake, in a good way. This new single is called “Here For You” and it’s dedicated to HIS WIFE. My reaction was: HE’S MARRIED? I don’t follow that stuff, and I know some artists are super low-key with their personal life—which is their right, they’re allowed. Anyways, back to the song.

Slow Joy, or Esteban, is in fact married and wrote this song for his wife. They didn’t get to have a big wedding with a formal reception and celebration, so he wrote this song for her. Is that not the sweetest thing ever? Men, take notes. He says this song is meant to be a gritty love song to remind his love that through the good AND bad times, he is there for her whenever, forever.

No, I’m not crying, I promise. I’m just sappy sometimes, and I think this is one of the first newer love songs that really puts into perspective what the meaning of marriage is—not just the idea of marriage, or why people spend thousands of dollars to tie the knot, but the reason people should want to get married. Marriage isn’t just about “finding your person” or having fun memories together, it means you promise to be true to them no matter what.

As someone who is married, it’s not easy—it’s not supposed to. Marriage doesn’t solve you feeling lonely, anxious, depressed or anything else, but it does make it easier. Having that one person who is always in your corner to support you through the bad; that’s the best part. Being able to be that person for someone else; that’s precious. We as humans experience all sorts of feelings, and sometimes we build walls of protection, not letting anyone in. Sometimes life is good and presents us with a special person. Cherish them.

I cannot wait to see what else Slow Joy has in store for us with his coming album, but I can bet it’s going to be as authentic and true as these other tracks.

Here’s to you, Esteban, and A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming, because it’s coming out on May 16th. I will be streaming it all weekend—can’t wait!
