YUNGBLUD is back with a brand new track. His latest single, “Lovesick Lullaby,” just dropped, and it’s a loud, unapologetic Brit-pop anthem that hits hard in all the right ways. It comes with a bold, super British music video, directed by Charlie Sarsfield, that’s just as fun and chaotic as you’d expect. Watch it HERE.
In the video, YUNGBLUD’s riding through the city in the back of a classic black London cab, rocking head-to-toe British staples like Burberry, Fred Perry, and Sir Tom Baker. He ends up in a packed pub, where things get wild fast. The whole thing’s loaded with pop culture nods, including a fun throwback to the iconic 1982 Maxell ad—you know, the one with the guy getting blasted by the speaker in an armchair. “Lovesick Lullaby” is loud, messy, and full of heart. It’s a no-filter celebration of everything that makes British pop and rock so good.
“Lovesick Lullaby” comes right after the release of his nine-minute epic, “Hello Heaven, Hello,” but it flips the vibe completely. This one’s loud, punchy, and proudly British, showing a whole different side of YUNGBLUD.
It’s just the latest example of how YUNGBLUD keeps switching things up and refusing to be pinned down. Beyond the music, he’s quickly becoming one of the standout voices of his generation, mixing rock, punk, and pop into something massive and unmistakably his. His high-energy shows around the world have earned him a spot as one of the UK’s most electric live acts. Over the years, he’s picked up awards like MTV EMA’s Best Alternative in 2021 and the O2 Silver Clef Award for Best Live Act in 2022. Known for his chaotic stage presence and lyrics that push boundaries, he’s built a movement around being unapologetically yourself. Last year, he launched the first edition of his own festival, Bludfest, and dropped his debut book, You Need to Exist: A Book to Love and Destroy, which went straight to No. 1 on the Sunday Times Best Seller list.
Speaking about the new single, YUNGBLUD said, ‘Making this song was a f*cking party and you can hear that on the recording.” He added, “[I tried to] let my subconscious do a lot of the talking and then make sense of my words the following afternoon in a kitchen, hungover, eating fish and chips with a cup of tea.I’ve been on a journey trying to find meaning in different places all over the world, for which I am forever grateful, but it felt as though my feet left the ground a little too much and I had to bring myself back… to British music, to British art and culture.”
Last month, YUNGBLUD stopped by “The Jonathan Ross Show”—watch his performance HERE—where he not only played live but also joined the guests on the couch to talk about his upcoming album and the return of his own festival, Bludfest, which is back for its second year on June 21 in the U.K. He explained the idea behind the festival, and why keeping tickets affordable mattered so much to him, saying “It needed to represent a new idea and a new generation. Gigs at the minute are extortionately expensive.”
With new music, a best-selling-book, and his own festival on the way, YUNGBLUD isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Whether it’s through his songs, his shows or the community he’s building, he’s making it clear that this chapter is all about connection, honesty and doing things on his own terms.
