The Devil Wears Prada push the meaning on love songs with new single, “For You”

The Devil Wears Prada is not just a movie with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. Meet metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio — The Devil Wears Prada.

Not all love songs need to be soft and acoustic, but that also doesn’t mean that love given is being reciprocated. Sound familiar? I’m sure we’ve all been stuck in a toxic relationship one way or another—we’re human. Being human means we make mistakes and fall in love with the wrong person. The Devil Wears Prada constantly and consistently are putting out tracks that push boundaries beyond what the “norm” might be.

“For You” is that long song where one side is hopelessly devoted to another, but the same energy isn’t being met. Not only does this song hit the heart on and remind us of that time we most regret, but the way the band has created the sound for this track reinforces the sentiment even further. Also, what else would remind someone of your endless devotion than a song dedicated in your name? It’s not always a compliment, though, especially when you’re heartless.

The outro and repetitiveness of “I do it for you” and how Mike lengthens the line on “you,” emphasizing that this is all about the other person. Pushing the energy to only do anything and everything for someone else rather than yourself. The lyrics mention being kicked down and broken bones, but even after all the pain, it’s all given away. The way we give into toxicity, and it’s a drug—endless taking our life away.

This song itself is daunting and enchanting in the notes, playing with the lyrics—such a haunting melody from start to finish. Check it out.

The band is currently on tour for their “Metalcore Spring Break” and then will join several other bands for “Summer of Loud” fest. You have so many chances to see them if they are playing a show near you. Get a ticket and head bang to The Devil Wears Prada.
