We Came As Romans drop new single, “Bad Luck”

It’s been three years since We Came As Romans released their album, Darkbloom. The sheer anticipation that comes after a new release is always: What comes next? The music industry is constantly growing and changing, so it’s important to always be planning ahead. I had no doubt that We Came As Romans was going to come out full charge with new music eventually. The question was just: When? I got my answer this past Friday.

This past Friday, they dropped a new heavy-hitting single, “Bad Luck,” and it’s so good. With a new track like this, it’s going to be a game-changing album or EP for sure—especially with the lineup of festivals and shows already queued up. 2025 is a year of music with stellar lineups of tours, and it’s only April. What other surprises await us later on?

“Bad Luck” by We Came As Romans reminds me of the days when nothing seems to go right and how anything could be good with this much darkness. But these scars and moments are just more adrenaline to push through to the otherside, it gives purpose to want to do better. Wondering every day why it just seems like bad luck is taking time away from doing better. These trials do not define us in any way.

Here is a statement from frontman Dave about this single: “Bad Luck is a song that is so important to each of us. Lyrically, it’s about our journey as a band since the very beginning. We’ve faced so many setbacks and problems behind the scenes, and sometimes it feels like Bad Luck is all we have — but the way that we’ve persevered through all of them to become who we are today is the real story, not the issues along the way.”

This band has always been one of my favorites with their raw lyrics that reflect on the hard times, combined with the punchy beats. I respect the band for their craft so much, especially knowing that everything they put forth is to honor Kyle Pavon. 2018 was a hard year for the band and fans with the loss, but they continue forward to keep the music alive in his memory. The band all came together to take on more to fill in his parts without replacing him.

Long live, We Came As Romans. Can’t wait to see what else they give us this year.
