SOMBR live in music city

Walking into Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday, April 19, you could already feel the excitement. The second SOMBR hit the stage, it felt like the whole venue came alive. There could not have been a better opener for Daniel Seavey.

The 19 year old New York City native took the stage at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl, opening up the closing night of Daniel Seavey’s “Second Wind Tour.” As a long time Sombr fan, this was a special moment. Not just for me, but the other 1,000 fans in attendance who are witnessing the rise of something huge.

From the first note, Sombr had the crowd in the palm of his hand. His set was packed with raw emotion, infectious energy, and that signature sound fans know and love. A mix of dreamy alt-pop and honest, coming of age lyrics that hit so hard live. Tracks like “Back To Friends” and “Undressed” felt even more powerful in person, with the crowd singing every word like it was a page out of their own diary.

One of the wildest parts of the show was during the last song of his set, “Back to Friends.” His energy was off the charts. He and his guitarist literally threw themselves into each other and hit the ground going crazy. Fans call that a “Sombr crash out” and it was for sure one of the most notable parts of his set. He played about 11 songs total, mostly newer stuff that everyone’s been loving lately. But the highlight for me was this unreleased song called “I Wish I Knew How to Quit You“—it was AMAZING! I can’t wait for that one to officially drop.

One of the most beautiful parts of the night was a fan project during his set. As planned online beforehand, fans held up colored pieces of paper over their phone flashlights, turning the crowd into glowing lights. And just when you thought the night couldn’t get more personal, after the show, Sombr came outside the venue for a short acoustic performance. No stage, no mic, just him, his guitarist, and a circle of fans gathered under the Nashville night sky. He played a few stripped-back songs and stuck around after to talk, take pictures, and hug it out with the people who waited. It didn’t feel like an appearance, it felt like a thank you.

Sombr may have been the opener, but that night, he felt like the main event. His music, his energy, and the way he connects with fans… it all points to something bigger ahead. If this show was any glimpse of what’s coming, I’m just grateful to have seen the beginning.
